Posies and Baskets FAQs

Posy: A posy is a small, compact bouquet of flowers typically tied together with a ribbon or other decorative element. Posies are known for their simplicity and elegance and are often used to express condolences or sympathy. They can be placed on a casket, memorial table, or given as a gesture of comfort and support.

Basket: A basket arrangement consists of flowers and greenery arranged in a basket or container. These arrangements can vary in size from small and delicate to larger and more elaborate. Baskets are versatile and can be used as sympathy flowers, centerpieces, or as decorative elements during memorial services. They are a thoughtful way to convey condolences and provide comfort to those in mourning.

Usually at least two hours before the service. The local florist will work with the funeral director to co-ordinate their safe arrival, to make sure there’s no extra stress for anyone who’s grieving.

We’d suggest at least 24 to 48 hours before the funeral, but we understand that sometimes things don’t go to plan and we’ll always try our best to help even if it’s last minute. Get in touch with our customer team and they’ll see what’s possible.

Traditional choices include white lilies, roses, chrysanthemums, and carnations – these symbolise love, sympathy, and respect. But it’s really up to you, you can work with the florist to choose flowers that reflect the person who’s died or the style of funeral.
